Will sit outside PM home if need be: Mamata Banerjee protests over central fund

Mamata Banerjee is protesting what she claims is a funding halt by the federal government for Bengal.Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, said she could hold a sit-in outside the prime minister's house "if necessary" after beginning a two-day dharna in Kolkata to express her displeasure with the federal government's alleged treatment of the state with discrimination.

"I have seven terms as an MP. I served in the central government as a minister for multiple terms. The BJP will now instruct me on the Constitution. Rajiv Kumar, a former police commissioner in Kolkata, was the subject of my dharna. I manage two portfolios. What should I do? When my party is in power, funds for my people have been suspended, and I am the chief minister. India as a whole adores me.

Abhishek Banerjee, a Trinamool Congress member, commented on Mamata Banerjee's protest by saying: "It is unusual that a chief minister is sitting on the road and there are no traffic interruptions. Traffic is typical. The BJP is acting enviously towards us after losing the 2021 elections. If they believe that by employing the ED and the CBI against us, they can beat us, then they are akin to a piece of iron that gets stronger with each blow. The BJP talks about corruption, but I want to let them know that the TMC is the only party that actually does something about it by removing corrupt leaders from office.

"We are prepared to transport this aandolan to Delhi if required. Abhishek Banerjee added, "You (Mamata Banerjee) simply give us orders and we will march to Delhi.

Around midday today, Mamata Banerjee and senior party figures Firhad Hakim, Aroop Biswas, Subrata Bakshi, and Sovandeb Chattopadhyay arrived at Dr. BR Ambedkar's statue on Red Road and started their demonstration against the claimed suspension of payments to the state by the Centre.

The sit-in protest will go on until tomorrow night.

On Tuesday, the Bengal MGNREGA project and other initiatives of the housing and road departments were allegedly not funded by the BJP-led Centre. "The Center ceased releasing funds for Indira Awas Yojana and MGNREGA." (Grameen). Additionally, it has ended scholarships for OBC students, according to Mamata Banerjee, who unveiled a plan to build 12,000 km of rural roads.
